๐ Mushrooms
New game element! These glowing cave mushrooms pop when they're hit, doing damage in a small area. Like mines, they can burst in a chain reaction. They respawn after a little while with a cute "bwip" sound, so the player needs to remember where they were, and not get caught when they pop up again.
All the levels have some now. The secret chamber below the start of the first level has a couple rows of them to play with right away.
Development
As usual, the mechanics and the level updates took about 30% of the time, and tweaking the graphics and sounds took 70% of the time. It's hard to get "feel" right! Originally they were going to be fruit-themed "bangberries", but then I realized mushrooms made more sense.
At first I made the explosion triggers very fast, and used the existing mine explosions, which are huge. As soon as I had the basic mechanics working, I started playing "explosion dominos."
I discovered it was possible to create infinite loops, but I fixed that. (I didn't have the mushroom graphics model at first, so as a placeholder I used stars and skulls, which don't appear anywhere in the game yet, but they might later.)

So the mushrooms act a bit like spikes?
Also because they explode they should be named "Mushbooms"
They're like a cross between spikes and mines. Definitely in the stationary-trap family.
